I don't know how I missed this comment, Jason. Yes, I agree. That's ideal. Our middle school principal has been so supportive and has helped Jamie maintain a great balance between school and his "career."

I loved this list!! Haha! We had the same thing happen in #3. My daughter decided to play Mindcraft on her Kindle for the 3 hr!!! drive to NYC instead of sing her songs. She sang them a couple times maybe once we got into NJ bc I said we were not going any further until she start practicing. Sure enough she got into the room and went blank. I told her sometimes we have to learn the hard way and there were some tears shed by both of us and some steam coming out of the ears. My daughter has had to make some hard decisions about whether to go to some auditions or skip them. She once had to make the choice between going to an audition or sleeping over at a friends birthday party. She came up with the idea she would go with them bowling then come home so she could get up to go to the audition the following day. We sadly didnt have a choice to do either bc a terrible snow storm came through and we couldnt leave our house. There are 2 sets of moms I found in audition rooms for girls. There are the ones the second you walk in look you and your daughter up and down and determine if you are a threat. The second are just following their daughters on this journey and are thankful to find a fellow mom going through the same things. I too have found some very nice moms and we spend the time waiting chatting about our daughter's journey and offer any helpful advice we can. Thanks for the great advice. I'm glad I came across your blog. I love hearing from other stage moms.

Keep your child in school. “Raise your child in their hometown in regular school when they are not working. This way when that work ends one day they still have a normal life and it’s easy to transition back to reality. The reality is that most kids won’t continue to work as they age and they need to stay grounded in reality.”
